  2. You have the wrong drinking age for New Zealand where the minimum age is 18 (unless accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Sale of Liquor Act 1989, Section 155 (1) (2), Sale or supply of liquor to minors[1] that states
    (1) Every person commits an offence and is liable to the penalty set out in subsection (2A) who, being the licensee or a manager of any licensed premises, sells or supplies any liquor, or allows any liquor to be sold or supplied, on or from the licensed premises to any person who is under the age of 18 years.
    (2) Every person commits an offence and is liable to the penalty set out in subsection (2A) who, not being the licensee or a manager of any licensed premises, sells or supplies any liquor, on or from the licensed premises to any person who is under the age of 18 years.

In Canada its either 18 or 19 depending on the Province. I am long past legal drinking age anywhere, but I think it should be 16 or 18, 21 is ridiculous! You can vote, and get married but you can’t have a beer?

I think a couple of people are confused about the meaning of drinking age. For example, there is no legal drinking age in the Netherlands. The people above that claim there is are confusing the drinking age with the legal age to buy alcohol.
BTW, the list is missing Belgium, which also does not have a drinking age limit.

  25. Chris says:

Right and drinking age would also be the same as the legal age that one can possess alcohol in public in a sealed container… In some places it is legal for one to possess and drink alcohol in ones private residence such as a dorm room in Louisiana…

  26. Chris says:

I mean for someone over 18.

new zealand does not have a drinking age only a purchasing age (karl stephens you have mistaken the buying age for the drinking age and have not read your own research what a wanker)

  28. Brian says:

I wouldn’t be against a maximum drink age. Middle-aged to old guys that are drunk are a very unattractive sight. Think of the “old rummy” alcoholic types with a 3 day growth of stubble etc.
The most fun had drinking beer, and often making an ass out of one’s self is the illegal age of 16 to 21. Too bad really.

    wheres vietnam’s information?

  33. simuls says:

Just to correct some of the above regarding Canada. The list is correct in saying 18-19, as the legal drinking age is set by the individual province. Legal drinking age is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec, and 19 in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland and the 3 territories (Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territory). Also, Canada did not change anything regarding US citizens – depending on the province you’re in, that’s the age regardless of what your country’s legal drinking age is (and 21 is ridiculous – so is 19). Same all over the world except in certain countries in which the drinking alcohol is illegal and they make exceptions for foreign nationals.
