In the town of Cognac, located in southwestern France, the production of the grape-based spirit of the same name has been going on since the 16th century. However, despite its rich history, Cognac isn’t typically associated with youth. But one Cellar Master is breaking the mold.

Baptiste Loiseau, formerly a consulting project engineer for Rémy Martin, was appointed the deputy cellar master in 2011. In the spring of 2014, he became the youngest person ever to be appointed a Cellar Master in the entire Cognac region. With five years on the job, Loiseau has brought a new perspective to the prestigious house of Rémy Martin.

As a native of the Cognac region, Loiseau has a deep interest in the history of his hometown. He is also passionate about sustainable beverage making and ensuring that Cognac is enjoyed in the present. He has launched his own bottles of Carte Blanche Cognac, which are designed to epitomize the tastes of the region and optimize the eaux-de-vie passed down from previous cellar masters.

Loiseau’s innovative approach to Cognac making has helped to expand the legacy of Rémy Martin. He has also been recognized for his contribution to the industry, having received numerous awards and accolades.

Despite his youth, Loiseau has embraced the massive responsibility that comes with being a Cellar Master. As he soared over the vineyards of Grande Champagne grapes in a hot air balloon, he discussed what it’s like to hold such a significant role at a young age. And with his passion, innovation, and commitment to tradition, there’s no doubt that Loiseau will continue to make waves in the world of Cognac for years to come.
