Hine Cognac, a brand with a rich history, dates back to the 18th century, when Thomas Hine, a linen merchant with a passion for cognac, sent his son Thomas to France to learn the art of making this iconic spirit. Settling in the small town of Jarnac, Thomas began crafting bespoke cognacs, eventually marrying Elisabeth, the daughter of a renowned cognac merchant. With his expertise and dedication to his craft, Thomas went on to expand the business and give it his name: Thomas Hine & Co.
Following Thomas’ untimely death, his eldest son, Thomas Georges, carried on the family legacy, and the business has since been passed down through six generations. Today, Bernard Thomas Hine, a direct descendant of Thomas Hine, carries on the tradition of producing exceptional cognacs, including Rare, Mariage, and Talent. His passion for creating single vintage cognacs has earned the company official recognition, upholding the Hine family’s values and furthering the great family tradition.
In 1962, HINE was appointed the official cognac supplier to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England, a tremendous honor that the company has held to this day. As a Royal Warrant holder, HINE is granted the right to display the royal arms and the legend “by appointment” on its products and advertising.
The Hine family’s dedication to producing the finest cognacs in the world has earned them a reputation for excellence, and their commitment to quality has never wavered. With a legacy spanning centuries and a tradition of producing exceptional cognacs that continues to this day, it is no wonder that Hine Cognac remains a beloved brand among connoisseurs of fine spirits.
