Distillerie du Peyrat, located in Le Peyrat, 10km from Cognac, produces Cognacs using grapes from the surrounding vineyards and water from a nearby stream that flows into the Charente river. The Distillery’s history began in the 1920s with Alcide Brisson and his son Paul, who acquired two still pots to distill their wine production. In the late 1980s, Sonia & Jean-François Rault took over the Distillery and faced challenges due to the declining Cognac market in the 90s. They responded by creating a range of Cognacs under the “Distillerie du Peyrat” brand and Jean-François became a pioneer of organic winegrowing. Today, their organic Cognacs are distributed internationally in over a dozen countries, and they remain committed to crafting sustainable and carefully-made products.
