Cognac Review: Pierre Ferrand Grande Champagne Cognac Selection des Anges 1st Cru du Cognac

One of my best friends invited me over for a beautiful dinner and this bottle was sitting unopened on the coffee table as I entered his home.   What can I say…I ignored him and went straight to the bottle.  Lets face it, he set me up by placing this out in the open in my path.  Being a VERY cold winter here in Los Angeles (58% outside!!) he had a fire going so we had to take a shot of this and some other bottles I brought for a comparison tasting.

I have had 5 Pierre Ferrands to date, including the 1914 (I nursed that for 6 years) and this is a favorite.  The nose is very broad and rich.  Once it has crosses your lips you have a sense that this is a very full and complex meal.  The flavors are numerous and layered.   The covering is complete.

Very very nice…
