Prunier Cognac is a historic, family-owned house established in 1701 by Jean Prunier in the Cognac region of France, making it one of the oldest independent producers still in operation. Based in the town of Cognac itself, the house has been meticulously crafting its spirits across generations, with the current stewardship under the Alerte family, who maintain a deep commitment to tradition. Prunier sources its grapes primarily from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus, using Ugni Blanc to create eaux-de-vie that are double-distilled in traditional Charentais stills and aged in Limousin oak barrels. Renowned for its vintage Cognacs—a rarity in the industry—Prunier offers expressions that highlight specific harvest years, showcasing complex flavors like candied orange, spice, and toasted nuts. With a focus on authenticity and minimal intervention, Prunier Cognac remains a favorite among purists, blending heritage with a timeless, understated elegance.
