Often described as the ultimate cognac experience, LOUIS XIII Cognac is considered to be the Holy Grail of cognac, desired for its opulence and classic crystal decanter packaging. For many cognac aficionados, the LOUIS XIII experience had been out of reach as the price of a 750 ml crystal decanter of this cognac perfection sells for around $3,500 – $4,000.
A Taste of LOUIS XIII via Louis XIII Miniature
In early 2016, Rémy Martin, the owner of the LOUIS XIII brand, remedied the situation for those that wanted a taste of the golden elixir but couldn’t finance the price tag of a full decanter, and made available for the first time a miniature version of this much celebrated cognac. LOUIS XIII miniature contains the same 100 year old Grand Champagne cognac as LOUIS XIII and comes in its own exquisite crystal baccarat decanter
The Crafting of LOUIS XIII Cognac
The crafting process of LOUIS XIII requires four generation of cellar masters’ care and attention. It is a blend of up to 1,200 eaux-de vie aged for 40-100 years. Rémy Martin Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau is currently selecting and aging the finest eaux-de-vie as he makes his contribution to the LOUIS XIII legacy.
The Making of the LOUIS XIII Decanter
The miniature version of the LOUIS XIII decanter is, like its larger counterpart, made by world renowned crystal manufacturer, Baccarat. The decanter neck is laced with 20-carat gold and with an etched fleur-de-lys emblem and LOUIS XIII/Rémy Martin lettering. LOUIS XIII Miniature is packaged in a red coffret and released in limited annual quantities each year with the decanter and stopper individually numbered.
