Within the town of Cognac we suggest these two places to visit for those of us who enjoy gardens and a walk with nature.

The King François I Park is located next to the Charente River.  According to legend, the future King of France was born near an oak tree which bears his name.  It is a large area, mainly in a natural state with walking paths crisscrossing though the woods of the park.

Public Garden Cognac France

Cognac’s Public Gardens are closer to the old town and surround the 19th century Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall).  The park covers a large area and has a rose garden, water features, trees, and other extensive plantings.  There are several smaller building within the park including a Gothic style tower in the middle of a pond, a neoclassical orangery, and a Victorian style bandstand.
